Gotta love that hairnet!

In answer to a question from 'Coronette', Ena Sharples had three children with Alfred Sharples (who died young). The children were Ian, who drowned when he was four, Madge and Vera. Vera died of a brain tumour in 1967 but I haven't been able to find out anything about mysterious Madge - can anyone else fill us in?

Ena was well before my Coro watching time but, like most people, I could pick her out in a line-up! Ena was Elsie Tanner's nemisis (Elsie was a little too loose for Ena's liking) though in one of her memorable moments Ena talked Elsie out of taking an overdose.

Below is a link to a clip of Ena and Elsie's showdown - Elsie's been receiving nasty letters and thinks Ena's been sending them (hmm...sound familiar?). The clip's 9 minutes long but is well worth it! Hold on to your hats ladies...

PS Keep your eyes and ears peeled for a young Ken Barlow!

Self control

It has come to my attention that some people are abusing the trust bestowed upon them to only vote once in the polls. Not surprisingly, these people are non-Coro watchers. I say 'not surprisingly' because watching Coro is often a zen experience and if these people (yes, you know who you are) watched Coro they would surely have more self control.
Consider yourselves told.

Don't mention the 'r' word...

Dear Gail,

You are the most annoying character on the Street. I wish you were run over instead of Rosie.

As always, lots of love,

Richard

The poll, the poll...

Apologies to all of you from the uni who are keenly trying to vote. I know how important it is to have your say but you will have to be patient because the poll is not working! I'll have a go at fixing it tonight but in the meantime I need to do some work-related work!
Apologies again...

**UPDATE** Have been unable to loosen the restrictions on the Danny Boy poll but you shouldn't have any troubles with the latest one...enjoy!

Shame...

I must confess that I missed Coro last night... I was being a good student and sitting through an MLIS class instead. Can anyone update me?

Scandal!

In breaking news, Bruce Jones, aka Les, has been suspended from the street for insulting fans during a drunken night out! And yes, this is the actor we're talking about, not Les! Check out the BBC's entertainment section for the full article, but beware of the spoiler!
**UPDATE** Here's the link to the BBC article, but remember, you've been warned about the BIG spoiler:

Little Nick

No one could have missed the hype about Adam Rickett, aka little Nicky Platt (aka 'Hot Nick'?) joining Shortland Street. Can't say I particularly miss Nick from Coro - like mother like son, unfortunately!
Did you know Adam actually released a single in 2000 that reached the top five in the UK charts? Who knew?! And he's now involved in politics in the UK. Honestly, who knew?

Mike...

Can you believe it? Poor old Mike Baldwin...

And rumour has it that we have another death (or two?...) coming soon.
